Mental Health Systems began providing behavioral health services in 1978, when founders William R. Mead, Ph.D. and Bill Eastwood, M.A. opened a single psychiatric day treatment center for adults in North San Diego County. Today, MHS operates more than 75 community-based programs throughout California.
Our growth has been met with success through the outstanding efforts of our staff and volunteers. Our extended team takes great pride in the satisfaction that comes from the positive results that are reflected in our clients’ homes and communities.
Our array of services has grown to include vocational placement, community outpatient clinics, psychosocial rehabilitation, mental health court and dual diagnosis treatment. A non-profit 501(c)3, our services are publicly funded and serve the neediest segments of the population. Today, we assist thousands of individuals yearly, including people living on the streets, those on welfare trying to regain employment, ex-offenders and the chronically mentally ill who require lifelong support.
