President

Kimberly Bond is President of San Diego-based Mental Health Systems, Inc. (MHS), a non-profit corporation and one of California’s largest providers of progressive mental health and substance abuse treatment. In her role as President, Kimberly is responsible for the organization’s more than 90 programs in geographic locations throughout Southern and Central California, and Utah.

Since joining MHS in 1992, Kimberly has developed an intricate understanding of the organization, starting as a clinician and later becoming a program coordinator for mentally ill adults. She went on to serve as Chief Operating Officer for 10 years where she was charged with the day-to-day management of MHS.  Responsible for overseeing hundreds of employees, Kimberly has contributed to the success of programs and the implementation of the William R. Mead Training Academy which provides the training necessary for substance abuse therapists and counselors to become certified in the State of California.

Prior to joining MHS, Kimberly worked with families and individuals as a counselor and group facilitator at the Alvarado Parkway Institute’s Depression Treatment Program.  She went on to work as a family therapist at the Psychiatric Centers of San Diego, where she provided individuals, couples and families with counseling in an outpatient setting. 

A leader in both the mental health and recovery communities, Kimberly has served as the President of both the California Therapeutic Communities and the San Diego Mental Health Contractors Association, and remains an active member of those organizations.  In addition, she is a member of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, and serves as a current Board Member of the Therapeutic Communities of America, the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Program Executives (CAADPE), and the San Diego County Tax Payers Association (SDCTA).  Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Kimberly earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1984 from San Diego State University and her master’s degree in counseling education in 1988.
