As Director of Safety for Mental Health Systems, Elaine Abraham plans, directs and implements the organization’s safety program to help ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free environment for MHS employees and clients.

Ms. Abraham is nationally and internationally recognized as a leading figure in establishing therapeutic community treatment models in institutional and community settings. A Registered Addiction Specialist, Elaine has worked in the field of substance abuse recovery for over 35 years. She has been employed with Mental Health Systems since 2004.

Most recently, Elaine uses her leadership qualities and community building skills to head the Safety Program. She has developed a culture that promotes safety in all areas of the organization, and continues to assure its ongoing maintenance and improvement. Under her leadership, the agency’s costs in Workers Compensation claims have been significantly reduced.

Ms. Abraham is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, has been trained in First Aide/CPR, maintains an Occupational Safety and Health Training Card, and serves as Chair of the MHS Safety Committee.
