Drug Free. Crime Free.

MHS Corrections and Rehabilitation programs offer services to adult offenders under federal and state jurisdiction. We recognize that our corrections clients have complex needs; in addition to having histories of substance abuse and crime, they often have mental and physical health problems as well. Our mission is to help clients learn to live free of substance abuse and criminal activity by addressing each area of need.
We are known for our breakthrough treatment strategies, developing such programs as “Forever Free” at the California Institution for Women (1991-2009). This program was the first of its type for incarcerated women in California. Additionally, MHS’ parolee services include the Female Offender Treatment and Employment Program (FOTEP) and Substance Abuse Services Coordinating Agency (SASCA). We have a proven history of successfully providing parolee services to thousands of offenders every year.
Our Corrections programs enable clients to reclaim their lives and become productive members of society. This benefits not only clients and families, but citizens throughout the state. Reduction in criminal behavior results in incarceration cost-savings that are greater than the cost of the program. Of the clients who use our in-prison and parolee services, the rate of reincarceration has dropped from 70 percent to 25 percent.
