Comprehensive AOD Program-II is designed to introduce and develop principles of counseling as it relates to chemical dependency. Course consists of Comprehensive I Academic Instruction and a Classroom Practicum Course.

The Mead Academy Practicum Program supports AOD students wanting supervised hours (externship) while in a classroom setting. The classes are three-hours long and meet every three weeks for nine months.
The Practicum Program is facilitated by a licensed instructor and the student is required to gain 255 hours of field practicum work under a practicum site supervisor.
This program is designed for alcohol and drug counselors, social workers, case managers and other health care professionals who want to enhance or develop the knowledge and skills necessary for professional practice in alcohol and drug studies.
Instruction will include the following:
The basic and advanced tasks, skills, knowledge and responsibilities that constitute the work of an addiction counselor. There is a major focus on the importance of cultural and gender responsive services within the following dimensions:
- Clinical Evaluation
- Treatment Planning
- Referral
- Service Coordination
- Counseling
- Documentation
- Client, Family and Community Education
- Professional and Ethical Responsibilities.

The primary instructional strategies used are self-directed learning, written assignments, self-assessment, lecture, presentations, peer exchange and reflective practice. These concepts are woven together using sound instructional design methodology to improve the competency and skill level of the counselor.
Students completing this class will receive a Certificate of Practicum for completing on-the-job supervised hours and 45 academic hours.
The Practicum course is part of the Comprehensive II Program. (See Comprehensive II). If you are enrolled in the Comprehensive II program, your Practicum course is included in your program and your tuition fee.
Certified counselors who are interested in becoming CAADAC may take this as a standalone course. It is also available for participants who are interested in gaining supervised hours or improving skills through clinical supervision.
Schedule of Com II Program
Schedule: Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Length: 49 Weeks : Seven courses + Practicum; 360 total hours
Continuing Education: 7 hours per class except 7th class is only 3 hours (8:30 am to 11:30 am)
Accepting Practicum enrollments as of August 1, 2010 for Course beginning January 2011.
Individual Class Fee: $63 per class
Individual Semester Fee: $360 (includes registration fee)
Individual Practicum Stand alone Fee: $549 (includes registration and material fee)
