Solutions Building Training 301.1 BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIES

Training Overview
This course will emphasize behavioral strategies that can be utilized in multiple settings. It will address the cognitive consideration of working with an individual with a developmental disorder and coexisting psychiatric disorder as well as how to adapt a behavioral program to each individual. It will introduce theoretical concepts and how they relate to the behavioral strategies. This will be a hands-on workshop with many examples and opportunities for practice and discussion. This course will be presented in two parts: The first three hours will provide the theoretical background and cognitive considerations paired with examples and discussion. The second three hours will provide setting specific complications and practical behavior plans to accompany various developmental and psychiatric disorders.
Training Objectives
Participants will:
- Be introduced to theoretical consideration when developing a behavior plan.
- Information will emphasize the complicating factors when working with an individual with co-occurring developmental and pshychiatric disorders.
- Learn how to consider cognitive processing and the implications for treatment plans.
- Challenges such agrression, anger management, depression, and anxiety will be addressed.
- Be presented with many examples and sample behavior plans to be adapated for their own use.
- This workshop will provide many opportunities for discussion and participation.
- Receive a manual that includes several examples of the behavioral strategies discussed in the workshop.
Target Audience
Direct care staff, administrators, clinicians, counselors and health professionals coordinating oversight or direct application of key treatment strategies for persons dually diagnosed.
