Motivational Interviewing, Basic and Advanced - Fresno
Target Audience:
Includes counselors, therapists, probation/parole officers and medical personnel working in mental health or addiction treatment programs.
Workshop Description:
This workshop is designed to introduce counselors, therapists and medical personnel to the principals and use of Motivational Interviewing. Instructor will review and discuss the origins, research, and principals of Motivational Interviewing. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and practice basic MI skills on teh first day and Advanced skills and practice on second day. Attendees will be provided information on ways to continually enhance their MI skills and ways to incorporate the MI principals into service delivery.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the principals and foundation of Motivational Interviewing
- Understand the origins and development of MI
- Practice Using Basic and Advance MI Techniques
- Identify Benefits of using MI with clients
- Describe how to continue to improve MI skillsnone
NOTE: Attendance to both days is highly recommended. Participants attending the advanced course only should have completed a Basic MI course in the past.
