Our Center Star Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program is a 24-hour / 365-days per year community based treatment for individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses with criminal justice backgrounds. The Assertive Community Treatment model is an evidence based best practice that originated in Wisconsin in the early 1970s. Eligible clients of Center Star ACT are individuals ages 25 to 59, diagnosed with the most severe mental illnesses (such as schizophrenia), who have been incarcerated at some time during the last year.
In addition, Center Star ACT serves 25 clients, ages 18 and up, who are severely mentally ill and homeless as part of the San Diego County Vulnerability Index Project. All clients of Center Star ACT are eligible to receive medication management and monitoring, therapy, drug and alcohol counseling, case management, vocational rehabilitation, peer counseling and support, and housing.
